Okay guys, went and looked at the 766D today that will sell at auction on Saturday. Owner is an older gentleman, retiring from farming and bought it new in 1975. Overall condition is okay, really straignt tin work. One fairly significant oil leak (maybe hydralic) in front of left side step around clutch linkage. Needs a seat and will need paint. A little slop in steering front spindles. Clutch didn"t engage till pedal almost all the way out. TA worked fine. Normal slop in shifting. Front grill missing. Ran and sounded good. Had a Westendorf TA-42 loader on it for about the last 10 years. Took loader off to sell seperately. Loader looked like brand new with original cutting edge in perfect shape and original paint on and around bucket in great shape. What should I expect the tractor to bring and what about the loader?

In SD the bidding would go to about 5500 on the tractor, and about 2200 for the loader.

I think it's odd the owner can't state emphatically that the 766 was OH at one time. I would think he'd remember something like that and have some documentation to show for it.

If the engine's compression is decent, the D-350 in that should fire up immediately if the temps are 30 and above. My 766 starts RIGHT NOW, but it has a fresh OH. Start the tractor before buying.

Might want to check to see if there is any antifreeze in the oil. Just back the drain plug out and if you see a green substance before you see oil, retighten the plug and pass on this tractor.

Forgot to mention tach read 5800 hours, but gentleman thought it had around 7000. Couldn't remember for sure, but thought it had been overhauled once.
