OK I'm thinking out loud here but has anyone put a 66 series cab on a 56 like a 1256? I know where there is one sitting that I could get cheap enough just wondering if it would work? After this winter I'm thinking hard about a cab at least on something. Brian

Brian,

As far as what you are talking about, all 706 thru 1466 are the same darned tractor and it will bolt right up.

You will need the mounts, the floorboard and PTO shift lever out of a factory cabbed unit. The cowl area adaptor plate is the only difference.

Otherwise, it is a straight bolt on deal.

Brian Any cab from any large chassis 06, 26, 56, or 66 tractor will be close to a direct bolt up, wilth a few modifications around the hood, floor and hitch.

When my 656 was 7 years old, I got a real good buy on a diamond cab that came off a 1066. I made that work on my 656, bear in mind the 656 being small chasis, I had to completely fabricate mounts, both at axle and side of tractor, and I also had to completely design a floor and back around the 3 point hitch. It worked and I stayed warm.

You see the thing that really annoyed me, I had just bought a new 1066 with ROPS cab that a hired hand was going to enjoy doing tillage on cold spring days, while I parked my posterior on the seat of an open station 656 and planted corn or drilled grain. Somehow didn't feel right, knowing I was the risk taker.

It would work. You would have to do some custom fabrication were the cab meets the hood. I have neighbor that has a 86 series cab on a 1456. If he could do that, a 66 series cab should be no problem.
