I finally got a chance to start identifying the tractors we bought and this one sounds funny. The serial number is FC 2702 but the hood says Super C. What is it? The serial numbers at left indicate that it is a 1948 C. How many C’s did they make? It must have been a bunch.

Another quick way to check, which is pretty reliable: Look at the location of the crank hole in the bottom of the grill. If it is basically even with the bottom bars in the grill, it is a C. If it is noticeably lower than the bottom bars, it is a Super C. mike

Hope this helps a little. The Super has a taller grill and curve brake and clutch pedals. And a water pump. Some supers also will have a fast hitch in the rear. Both good machines.

What a couple of nice looking tractors. I hope ours turn out that good. We are finding out that it gets very expensive to get everything back to original, but it sure is fun.

Water Pump ? Whats that? All the tractors that I have identified as what I thought was a Super C don't have water pumps. The fan just hangs out there.

The water pump will run off a belt coming from the fan on the carb side of the front of the engine.

Wow, Did all Super C's have water pumps. What about just C? It sounds like we bought a bunch of hybread's (sp). I'm headed back out there with all of this info to see really what I got.

Thanks,

super c serial #s started with 100001, so all super c's have 6 digit numbers. yours would seem to be a 1948 c, as you said.

Thanks, must have gotten a upgraded hood somewhere along the line. Now that I look at it the hood's paint is too good for this tractor. Hmmm going to have to look at the rest of them to see where the hood fits.

No, someone put Super C decals on it when it was repainted.
