I have a tach out of a 400 LP. It is decent.
Email if interested.

If you had left out the word "hour", I would know what you are talking about. There is:

tach w/service meter

service meter (below oil fill cap)

hour meter (made by Hobbs and branded by IH)

Bates Corp in IN has a shop that rebuilds tachs. They may also work on the other meters. eBay always has IH (Stewart-Warner) tachs for sale. That is probably your cheapest route. Make sure the face is identical to yours.

The reproduction tachs I've seen for the 450 tractors have a built in engine hour meter, Wardner. Dunno if that's how they were originally.

I am not familiar with the repros, but if they are like the originals, the odometer like counter only records total engine revolutions. I have one tractor that hardly ever runs over 1000 rpm although it is capable of 2400 rpm. That meter can't begin to accurately measure engine hours.

All mechanical tachs that incorporate an hour meter are calibrated to read at a certain RPM. I know the ones in our 884's say right on them that they read "hours @ 1800RPM" but PTO speed is 2165RPM. Some old trucks had an "hour meter" in the mechanical tach, but they called it "motor miles"
