How much of a pain is it to replace the tachometer cable in a 1066 with a cab? i would really like by tach to work, but don't want to kill myself getting it working.
Thanks.

You "should" be able to thread it down out of there just by removing the left instrument panel and the access hole cover in the left sound deadener.

Speaking of Tachs, I asked a question some time back about clearing up a cloudy lens on my tach. Reply was to use some sort of polish and lots of elbow grease. Tried it and didn't work. Any other options other than replacing tach?

are you sure its on the outside of the lens? It most likely is, but it might not be, altho I dont know how anything would get insides, as they are faily weather tight.
Try 91 or 99% rubbing alcohol, or an ammonia winder cleaner. The alcohol gets off most things, from adhesives, to oils/greases.

I did for about 10 to 15 minutes. Wasn't long enough?

Dunno,

I used the gritty rubbing compound on mine. No cigar, but certainly is usable now.
