I have been looking through my Jan-Feb issue of Red Power. There is a photo on page #70 I can't get my head around. There are two men standing at a counter and a tractor with a right and left hand plow on it. And it looks like the left hand rear wheel sits much farther back than the right tire does. This may just be an illusion in the old photo, but if not can someone explain it to me.

A lot of the old pictures are pretty badly stretched when you get near the edges. Keep in mind that F-12 wheels can be slid on the axle and it looks like the left wheel is set wider than the right. Although less so, the left plow bottom appears to be farther back than the right one as well. The left tire also appears to be leaning in at the top, but so does the left side of the window in front of the tire. I think you are seeing distortion of the picture.

Or maybe the tire really isn't attached to the axle. Probably not possible to say for sure. The two guys in the picture and the photographer are probably all gone, so there is no one to ask.

By the way, just a little bit was cropped off the top and bottom of the picture for publication in RPM. Both sides show pretty close to the edge as it was originally published in Harvester World.

Paul: Looks to me like the wheel has been unbolted from the hub and rolled back - probably so the dealer can show some feature of the tractor better. If you look very closely, it appears to me you can even see the left side hub - something you could not do from that camera angle unless the wheel was unbolted. mike
