Hello, A friend of mine spotted a 3414 backhoe and is wondering the year range, hp, and also I guess it had multiple batteries and he is curious about 12 or 24 volt?

this also might be a british made model so parts may be a little hard to get I ran into that on my 454 with a loader, I could get parts but they were double the price.

its probably 12 volt with 2 batteries run pos to pos and neg to neg,,, this is for the extra cranking amps needed for the diesel. I know my 5000 diesel is this way, really helps too, it is still 12 volts just gives you a bigger punch.. pat

now I just looked at tractor data .com and they show it is a 1961- 66 model, has 30 + hp, and shows 12 volt positive ground with a genny, so you may be looking at 2 -6 volt batteries run pos to neg and pos to neg giving you the 12 volt to the starter,,, like stated beore 3 caps 6 volt 6 caps 12 volt,,

also tractor data had 414 I think the same tractor except 3414 is industrial, I may be wrong,, pat

It's probably 12 Volt, but that's easy to check. 24 Volt is a John Deere thing.

If the batteries only have 3 caps each, it's 12V.

If they have 6 caps, look at how they're connected together. When a cable runs from the POS(+) to the NEG(-) on the other battery, it's 24 Volt.
