A guy at work showed me a picture of a H with a TA. He had never heard of one. I didn't know Farmall made them. Can anyone tell us a little about them???

IH did make one experimental HTA, there was a pic and a little write up in one of my red power mags about the tractor. It did not have a ta handle on it, the ta was automatic, once the tractor dipped below a certain rpm under load it would come on, and once you got going it would kick it out. Don't know about you but i would rather have a manual one.

Let me add to the confusion. I've got probably the only 1941 Super H ever made. Anyhow, that's what the tag says it is, and at least some of the casting codes agree. Of course some of the codes make it a 1946, and at least one of the codes makes it a 1953, but I don't think there is another quite like it in existence.

Tom: as you can see some of these guys are a bit tired of this question. It gets asked at least once or twice per month. I have seen it on page 1 and 11 at the same time and asked by two different individuals.

We tend to think we have it conquered, then all of a sudden someone new comes along and asks again. I heard gene bender was going to have a talk with the president, see if he wouldn't include this in his state of the union address. If he can acomplish that then I'll try and get to the prime minister here in Canada. That might cover it, but then who knows how many folks listen to those guys anymore.

Yes i did have a talk with GEORGE about subject and he thought all people by now knew of the hoax so he is going to talk about the magic device on the intake hose that makes a 50% increase in gas mileage. This is that new space age thing it goes just after the air cleaner in that big hose going to the fuel injection unit. Said he mite mention a new additive for desiel that doubles or better fuel mileage also. Verry busy man but was he took my call he will mention this also.

gene: I see clearly, you've already put me on the spot. Problem is Steven will get it mixed up. The way he's talking these days, I expect him to ban our old tractors. Oh, well at least I don't have to pay each of my neighbors for 3 miles a $1,000. per year as a peace offering for noise polution like that Nascar track up the road from here.

Steven: You know me well enough for that. I'm always the guy complaining about YT contributors being too serious. Some of these guys on here, I don't thing they'd laugh if someone broke wind in church. Quite frankly I wasn't sure how gene was going to take my suggestion. I've met gene, but the day we met it was all serious tractor talk.

I know all about "eh", however it is a rather regional thing. I never heard folks using it where I lived in NS, and I never hear it around SW ON. I will agree though, it's used excessively some places. I've run across folks using that so badly I feel like giving them a kick.

And I don't like gravey on my fries. I figure if we can't enjoy this tractor thing, not much point in having them.

Steven: I remember a story in my home town, a family had a mentally chalanged adult son, he loved going to church. Normally he sat with his dad in a pew right behind Deacon Brown, and his mom was in the choir.

This particular Sun., dad didn't go to church, thus Charley was all alone in the pew behind Deacon Brown. Midway through the service Charley broke wind. Imediately, he jumped to his feet and yelled, "Hurrah for the Deacon."

Bear in mind, this happened before my time thus my only recollection was here say. How true the story is, I have no way of knowing. Could be that someone always fanticised this happening to Deacon Brown. I do know the Deacon was not particularly popular.

There are several around but none was ever factory built. There is even a SUPER H TA HI-CLEAR DIESEL. You can build as long as the money doesent run out and your desire doesent quit. Havent you seen or heard of the SUPER B it goes on and on.

That topic comes up monthly on the board. IH never made an HTA. Someone took a 300 or 350 and put H tin work and gas tank on it.

International never made an H-TA. I think someone with some ingenuity mated a 300
rear end with an H front end. The work was so
well done that you would think IH did make them.

Must be the full moon again...

The Super HTA did not and does not exist, nor will it ever. They took a Super H and a 300 and put them together.

...and he'll probably get mad at you and tell you you're flat wrong, that IH DID make an HTA.

Well, they did. They made ONE, presumably as a test mule for a possible T/A design. They tested it. They scrapped it. It no longer exists.

Anything you see that claims to be a Super HTA is a CUSTOM tractor, like a custom hotrod based on a '32 Ford, for example. It grinds my gears when some of these guys call it a "hoax." It's not a hoax.

Super HTAs are real running, driving tractors. They're just not production tractors. A hoax would be a photoshopped picture of an H made up to look like a Super HTA.

These guys have no problem with Boyd Coddington or Chip Foose chopping up a classic Ford or Chevy and turning it into something special, but when an old farmer puts H tins on a 300.... Jeez Louise, you'd think someone stole their lunch money!

Nat: I think most of us accept what you say, what amazes me is how often this question arises, at least once or twice per month. I've even seen it on page 1 and 11 at the same time.

Proves to me what a cop once told me. He stopped me doing 58 mph in a 50 mph zone. I hadn't been on this road since it had been downgraded from 60 to 50, roughly 3 months before. I pointed that out to him and told him there were no speed signs between where I turned on and here. He said, "Oh yes there is back by the park entrance." I said, " Sir that sign (same size as our speed signs) said it is illegal to throw garbage in the highway."He said, Mr. MacKay, I'm going to let you go, your someone who actually reads signs."

My point is if we had folks that actually read the forums, before they start typing, this question would rarely arise. When I came to YT, I read for 6 months before I typed anything. It also makes you wonder why Kim bothers to archive this discussion.

Gary: I always tell those medical folks, "Yes I'm alregic to a particular antibiotic, but I can never remember the name of it". Those folks get damn well paid for looking it up, and who wants them poking around ones body, if they haven't done that.

Reminds me of the doctors office. Each person that comes into the room asks you if you are allergic to anything, although its been written on the chart every time for the last 10 years. Its easier to ask than to read the old posts. I know you would read the charts before you asked.

Gary: I did respond to you, but got it in the wrong place, my memory is that bad. Oh yes, and I am alergic to an antibiotic, just can never remember the name of it, until I see it. Once I see that 15 siliable two word decsription, I'll nail it every time.

Ole Doc. gave it to me once for an infection, took it Sat and Sun. I did feel a bit unsteady, however on Mon morning I decided to do some plowing. When I got to tractor, I couldn't get in the cab. Went back to pickup and drove to Doc's office, he was in and saw me right away. Didn't want to let me drive home, said I was on the verge of a drug induced stroke. Finally he agreed as long as I map my route and stick to it on side roads. He was heading for hospital shortly behind me and would use same route. He had to drive by my door on route anyhow. He called at the house on his way, told me to drink lots and lie down for the day. That was 11 am. 5 pm on his way back he was back at the house, checked me over. Next morning he was back, checked me and gave me the OK.

I'm telling you I was one nervous lad for a spell, but I think poor ole Doc was more nervous than I. He actually stopped long enough to have dinner with us that first evening. I expect 3 pre teen children around the table with us made him think a bit about possible mal practice. Thankfully I came out of it with no adverse effects, and ole doc and I remained friends until he died. I often wish I could dig him up, I think he'd still be better than the quacks we have today.

What makes it a hoax is when the owner (usually while trying to sell it) CLAIMS that it is a "restoration" or that IH did build it that way. If they make the claim while trying to sell it, it also falls into the category of fraud.

Of course, this is all hypothetical, as I have never heard of a Super HTA seller making such claims.
