I've got a set of fast hitch tongs about 5ft long. I had planned on cutting them and making them into a 3pt conversion. Does anybody have the length they shoud be? And also the ones I have seen bend up right behind the hitch, So does anybody have the angle of that bend? Thanks Ronald

I already have a top link mount. The spacing fast hitch spacing is 32" same as most 3pt equipmet I will be using. Just wondered if any had the length from a factory hitch to give me correct length for pto. I also think the prongs bend up to compensate for fast hitch not lifting as high as three point. At least some of the factory hitches I have see are like this. I'm sure I can figure it out but I thought somebody else might have already figured it out.
Thanks Ronald

I don't think there are any hard and fast rules. This is why tongs come in different configuations. It also needs to be understood that the geometry of the 3pth and 2pth are different. Fast hitches pull from underneath the tranny; 3pth usually pulls from axle or differential housing. They swing a different arc. Store bought prongs are probably a compromise adaptation that, in some cases, could be improved with a little work for each implement. I have half a dozen implements that I have changed over. I doubt if any of the prongs would interchange from one to another and be satisfactory.

The tongs come straight, bent, offset, and welded to an arched shaped bridge that connects the tongs into one piece.

Your tongs will need to be different for various applications. For instance, will you be using the PTO? Where will you attach the top link? Where will you attach the tongs on the implement?

Don't bother answering. I still couldn't tell you how to fabricate your tongs. You will have to put the tractor and implement in proximity and go from there.

The proximity thing works. I figured out how to mount all the implements for a Cub when I was eight or nine. I had no help or manuals. I just moved things around until they fit.
