wondering how many total international 856 diesel custom tractors were built. i have been told these had smaller fuel tanks than the regular 856. is there any other differences between a custom 856 diesel and a regular 856 diesel.
thanks

Been around IH most of my life and i have never seen a custom. Was it mostly sold in certain areas? or maybe i just never paid attention. :))

Pete,

Don't think the dealers out here even messed with 'em as they wouldn't sell.

Yeah,

And a single remote would sure tie a guy's hands back behind him. :>)

Dunno. Guess they would work in certain situations tho.

The 856 customs had clamp style rear wheels versus the wedge type. They also had a simple angle iron battery hold down versus a full cover. They had 6 bolt front wheels versus 8 bolts. Most of them came with 16.9 rear tires versus 18.4. Plus as also already mentiomed the smaller air cleaner, smaller fuel tank, and also smaller batteries.

Hi, You are right about the battery covers. My 856 has 18.4-38 with wedge lock wheels and 8 bolt fronts, Chuck

Hi, I have both 856 and 756 custom models; The differances I know of are; smaller fuel tank 30 gallon, air filter does not have the inner backup element, single head lights but the second is easily added, mechanical seat instead of hydraulic, straight steering wheel no tilt which I think has a different throtle lever also, mine both have single hyd. valves but I think a second was optional on all. I don't know how many were made, have seen a couple others around here, they both have a torgue. Been very happy with them, the 856 has 16000 hrs, the 756 has 9500, Chuck

They can have TA, smaller fuel tank, only three lights on non cab models, and single remote hydraulics.

I'm fairly certain the International Custom's did not have a TA. Fairly sure the had LPT. They were built to compete with the JD's and for the export market. (mexico)

Seems like the customs also had fewer lights?
