On Saturday I went to look at my newest prospect a 1947 Farmall A. When I got there the tractor was sitting outside in the snow with no exhaust cover which scared me a little bit. I turned on the gas hit the starter button and she took right off no smoke or anything. I then engaged the belt pulley and killed it. It kept bucking up against the starter so we decided to hand crank it. It fired on the downstroke of the hand crank when we were bringning it back around. It even has good rubber and dual rear weights. The only cosmetic issues are holes rusted in the fender. It will make a great addition to my collection.

It hasn't sat too long and because it is in too good of shape to have sat. It was about 10 degrees when I engaged the pulley and the tractor was just fired up so the fluids were thick.

To fret to much if the pto killed it. If its cold where your at like cold enough to freze there is your problem. Just bought one in Michigan that has been sitting outside for 5-7 years went to get it the rear end was full of water froze solid. Got it home thawed it out with the heater and drained the rear end it was fine next day could not roll over the pto. That had water in it also. Had to thaw that out.
I would bet you have ice in your pto.

2nd thing If its not ice it could have seized bearings and well they are really easy to rebuild.

I would not worry to much but if it has been out side I would bet it has ice in it and possible be rusted up!
