Hydraulic Oil Strainer

When I removed the hydraulic oil strainer from the SC cylinder block, it was partically collapsed but otherwise in good shape. It appears the previous owner missed the oil port on the opposite side of the block and just collapsed it when tightning up the cap screws. I see there is a coil spring inside of the wire mesh that should press the port strainer into the oil port.

Now, when I reinsert it, the intake port for the strainer doesn't reach the port where oil comes in from the pump. Short of buying another one, are there any tricks to stretching it back to its original shape so it will fit into the port?

Thanks in advance.

Jim, I was going to say that, but I'm no farmal guy, but I thought the belly pump and resevoir were both mounted under the tractor, well part of the underneath of the tractor, and figured there isnt much of a suction line to fit a inline filter in. Maybe I'm wrong.

A super C has a live Hydro setup with a engine mounted pump (just lower than the governor) pipes are similar to yours. JimN

Oh, hehe. I'm not much for knowledge outside of my 300u =). I'd love to be thosepeople that get old iron thrown at them. I'd definitely take anything I could get. Unfortunately I also dont have the covered space or the trailor to haul anything here. I do have almost an acre tho. I actually drove my 300u for 10 miles to my place =) and spent 2 weeks cleaning out the garage enough tosqueeze her in.

My wife and I have a 1967 Hustin Healy sprite with a Toyota Hemi in the engine bay trans and all electrics. City lots do not do much for space. JimN

I had the exact same problem with my C. I ended up replacing that strainer, about $75 from the dealer if I remember right. I also flushed the system with fresh Hytran and mopped out the bottom of the resivour as best I could with one of the wifes small spunges. Dave.
