Hi, it's me again, I was reinstalling the differential and bull pinion carrier on my H yesterday and while reinstalling the bull gear, I broke it. So I have another parts H and I found that the carrier was different because of the hand clutch. So can I take the one from the right side of my parts H and install it on the left side of my good H? THANKS

They are the same. Here's a link to that page of the parts catalog.
For anybody that hasn't found it yet, the complete H parts catalog is at:
Link
I've downloaded each page individually and put them in a folder in my tractor files. Took a long time, even with a moderately fast connection and Firefox. I've got a real catalog that I bought from Case IH and it's way better for looking things up, flipping through pages in a book from Contents to a range of pages, with pics on some and lists on several others is a pain on a computer. But to be able to conveniently print out a page and take it along to the shed or the dealer without risking further damage to the expensive volume is worth the download time.
Good luck, Wm

Hi, I reinstalled the carrier and put the bull gear back on the axle with my dad. I was tightening the cover or retainer with a grease zerk on top to push the axle back into place.
I just forget to tighten the big bolt at the end of the shaft at the same time and the pinion carrier broke because the bull gear was prying on it... ohh well, we all learn from our mistakes...
THANKS

I guess that's the other way to break that. I think usually we try to pull the carrier straight out of the housing without moving the bull gear out of the way.

Are you talking about the housing that is by the brake pinion shaft. That housing I beleive is different for each side. the shaft and the bull gear is the same though from side to side

on the M series the differential carrier bousing that holds the drive gear for the bull gear is different. It has a cast in oil hole to allow oiling on the outer bearing. I am looking for a good one for the left side for my MD.
