Okay i finally found the needle i took out of the F-12 carb when i rebuilt it last spring. So i took the old needle up to school and put it and the old seat in. Wasn't sure it would work though because the needle has a nice fair sized groove all the way around it about half way down the tip. I tried it anyways, and it fired right up and i ran it off an iv. held above the carb for about 3 minutes. Then i hooked the iv. up beofre the fuel pump to see if it would keep running off the pump. Sure enogh it did. I drove it about 10 feet forward in first than bakced up than tried to use first again but it wouldn't engage. So i have to check the shifter again, but that wont be too hard. I wanted to take the F-12 outside the shop for a spin, but i couldn't because there was some big green pile of junk in my way. I had her running for almost ten minutes. Hopefully i will be able to take it for a spin on Monday. I would still like to find a better needle because of the groove on the one i have now. Sorry about the long post but i thought i would keep you all updated, i had been waiting to drive that tractor for almost two years now.

So there VICTORY SHALL BE MINE!!! HA HA HA HA!!!

JJ,I own 4 F12&14's,and the carbs are very tricky. On all of mine I drill the T at the gas tank out to releive some of the fuel pump pressure,These tractors have different characters and all start different.Seem like the fuel pump pressure lifts the needle valve off the seat

My F-12 came with an relief tube on it. The line from the fuel pump goes up next to the gas tank and than "T"s off, with one line going sideways over to the carb, and one continues straight up to the primer mounted in the hood. Than there is a second line tha comes out of the primer and goes straight down and "T"s into the line between the fuel tank and pump. My problem was the replacement needle which had a "rubber" tip would get stuck in the seat and would not let any fuel in because the fuel pump did not make enough pressure, because of this the fuel would go through the primer and back down the return line. Thats why i decided to try the old needle again.

Glad to hear it. I have not had any luck in finding an all steel needle valve.

The other day when i posted looking for an all steel needle i think someone said that an all steel one from a Farmall M carb will also work in the F-12. Im not certain, but im thinking i might try it.

If it wasn't so darned cold out in my shop I would go out and see if the two will interchange. I think they will, but don't quote me on that.

I cannot find a source for all steel needle valves for any application.
