I need some help Identifying a tractor I just bought. I believe it to be a 1948 however I was told it was a 1947. I also cant find the "DipStick" to check the oil in the thing. Is there someone out there that may know the answers to these questions. I have a Farmall Super A--Model FAA, Serial # 265548. This is something that I am wanting to restore to original value as well as just putt around on here in our little community. Can you also tell me how much oil to put back into it when I go to change the oil? Thanks to all!

I have a Super A and the serial number on mine is close to yours. Mine is #264761. Yours is a 1948 year make just like mine. You can check the years on this site under the Research and Info over on the left of the page.

BTW the operators manual calls for SAE-30 in the engine. You might want to get an operators manual, they are pretty handy.

I use mine to putt around the small town where I live. Some of those young guys dont like it tho, hard to make them take their foot off the gas.

It doesn't have a dipstick. But that's no problem.

On the left-hand side of the engine, down low on the side of the oil pan, there are 2 petcocks.
When you fill the oil, open them both. put oil in until it starts to drip out the lower petcock, (which in your case will take about 4 quarts). Close the lower petcock, then add 1 more quart and it should start to come out the upper petcock. That is it, the engine is full when oil comes out the upper petcock.

To check the oil, open the lower petcock, if oil comes out, it is OK, if not, add some until it comes out the upper petcock. Add slowly, give the oil time to drain down through the block to the oil pan.
