I use the threaded rod trick myself with a floor jack to lift the heavy beast up an inch or two at a time and then spun the nuts up after it. The rods and nuts act as a safety and guide it up straight while the jack lifts so you don't have to keep alternating a couple a turns on each corner and its reduces the binding on the rods. Once you get to the top the jack holds it tight while you remove one rod at a time on diagonal corners to insert the bolts.

Neil, I've used the threaded rod method as noted by Andrew and it works fine and safe. If you are an army of one this is about the only safe way to install or remove one. There is nothing flat on the pump bottom to use a floor jack unless you build some special blocks to position it correctly and secure it somehow to the jack. These things are very heavy (would guess well over a 100 pounds) and will certainly hurt you if it gets away from you. The threaded rod method just takes some time as a lot of wrench turning is involved. Those ratching box wrenches seem to work real well. You will need (4) 3/8" X 1" cap screw with split lock washers to secure it to the tractor. Be very careful in putting one in your tractor. Hope this helps, Hal.

First make sure you have removed the in/out pipes and dust shields, along with the lever. Then just use a floor jack to lift it into place and install the 4 bolts through the bottom to hold it in. Then install the coupler between the trans and pump, and re-install the pipes and lever. Very simple job. If you need a complete pump and tank, I have one I just took out of my H that I"ll sell for $100. I don"t have the coupler, but they are easy to find. Everything else is there. Email if you need it.

I pulled the pump on my H to replace the seals and I put it back in using this site. It worked very good all you need is threaded rod and a rachet wrench helps out alot. but I was able to get it back in there on my own.

Good Luck

It's not clear if you have one to install, or if you are inquiring about adding one.

Assuming you do not have the parts, the first thing you need to do is start looking for the parts. You won't be able to go to WalMart, or any other specific place, and buy this stuff off the shelf. Your best bet will be a tractor salvage yard in your area. Those are listed in your yellow pages. A little legwork is required on your part to locate and obtain what you need.

Use Case-IH's online parts manuals at caseih.com as a reference to see what is necessary, and how it goes together. Installing the pump is a two-person job.

Do you have one to put in? You will need a parts manual that shows the pieces you need.
There is a shaft coupler that connects to the pump and other parts.

I think I saw this in an IT manual. But you can make a T handle out of rod. Then you weld another short piece of rod onto the side of the long rod. The idea is to make these T handles to fit in the holes at the bottom of the pump. The little piece of rod slips in the wide spot to keep the pump from rolling. Two people, with these T handles lift the pump in place. It would dangned near take a 3rd person to put the bolts in. I dont like this method. Too many people needed, but this is what the manual shows so I thought I would mention it. Go with the treaded rods.
