Well, just called the mechanic. He says if it is adjusted right, you should have to back off the pedal about 1/2 to 3/4 inch from fully depressed and that will release the transmission brake and she will roll back. Seems to make sense to me as I held the pedal all the way to the floor last week.

What do you think?

I beg to differ with him on that as when i am done with them they shift like they are suppose to as i have been driving them and working on them since they came out as my uncle and my old boss had the first two 806's in this part of the country and with all the T/A work that i have done i am sorta in the know . I have seen the way other guys set them and the way they shift of don't shift . If ya got on any of the ones that we have it only takes two fingers to shift them and when they start to hang it is time to readjust .

Well, OK. I respect your knowledge.
Seeing as how he says it is right I guess it is not too hard for me to adjust based on the directions you sent me below. Thank you for that.
I'll give it a crack in the next day or two.

Mike,

Vet's way is better 'cause that book assumes that everything is just like it was when new.

An older tractor is gonna have a little slop here and there and Vet's way takes that into account.

I was hoping you wouldn't say that! Now I got to call him. I going to read up on the adj. procedures tonight but as I remember you can't adjust one thing without adjusting everything together.

Here is a quick and easy way to do the clutch adjust ment , don't care if it it is a hyd assit. or not it will work vary well but takes two people . First the red tell tail light must work , First adjut the free travel of the clutch pedal to 13/16 of and inch , next hold the clutch pedal down after ya remove the clevis pin for the trans brake while holding back on the trans brake lever to the rear of the tractor adjust the clevis till the pin will slide in freely after ya got that then let up on the clutch and add one to one and a half turns to that clevis depending on the ware of the linkage put the pin back in lock down the lock nut . Now start the tractor with the transmissin on (N) park loc set with the engine at and ideal back off the T/A dump valve adjment bolt about 5-6 turns now hold the clutch pedal down to the stop the tell tail light should be off hold the pedal down and start to turn the adjutsment bolt in slowly and watch the lite as soon as the lite comes on STOP let the clutch pedal up add one more complet turn to the bolt and lock the lock not all done. GOOD TO GO .
