I wanted to Thank "EVERYBODY" for the help on this 674 Diesel that had water shooting out of the radiator even when the engine was cold . All i had to do was crank the engine over with the radiator cap off and the water would shoot up about a foot out of the radiator. To make a long story short it was the bronze sleeve that is pressed into the cyl. head for the injector to fit into. Right at the very bottom where you have to look in the nozzle hole it self to see any kind of leak after pressurerising the cooling system to 15 pounds of pressure.I had the head surface ground and pressure tested but they missed ths sleeve. I could take the injector out of the head and the pressure would go away from the radiator when engie was cranked over, that's how I knew for sure it was compression related. The next trouble was finding the leak. Replaced the sleeve installed the head back on engine, no more water shooting up out of the radiator. Thanks again !!!!! !

Hi Scotty
I'm glad you found the faulty brass sleeve.
How did you determine which sleeve was leaking?
I have a 574 so was interested how you found it when it was so small. Must be most unusual when repair shop didn't find it. Regards Eldon from Ont.

Hi Eldon, I pulled the Injectors out and made sure the Radiator was full and got a pressure tester that takes the place of the radiator cap and pumped the system up to about 13-15 pounds of pressure and you have to look straight down on the sleeve and inspect the big part of the sleeve but also look down in the sleeve where the injectors nozzle tip goes threw. It's very hard to see dow in that penciel hole but that's where you have to look for at least a minute or more and don't expect a gusher mine was a very slow drip. Just take your time looking in the holes for a leak afer you have put some pressure on the system. I was getting pressure in the coolant system even when in was cold and I was just cranking the engine with the rad. cap off. If this is happening to you take your injectors out one at the time and crank the engine with the cap off. you'll know when you hit the right one because the pressure in the rad. goes away when you take the one out thats leaking. Hope this helps. Scotty
