Hey Old, I have an idea about that stick through your roof. Cut it off about 3-4" above the roof, tar around it good. Then go inside and drill screws into it and use it to hang stuff on.
I'm sure others will have some equally good ideas. Just teasing, you have to laugh at misfortunes once in a while. Glad you are back up and running.

Funny thing about that stick is you can grab hold of it and push it up or pull it down so when it went into the roof it also broke off of the bigger limb that pushed it into the roof. Sure would like to fix it now but with 1-2 inches of ice on the roof plus the 2-4 inches of snow that has fallen today its sort of hard to do any thing to it till if drys some and gets warmer. I posted pictures of it in the stuck and trouble area on this site by the way

I had a rental house once. The folks called and said that a limb had fallen on the roof. I went and sure enough it had..in addition, a limb broke off as it went through the roof...on down into the bathroom and was sticking into the water on the cammode...but did not break it...i think they were luckey not to have the urge at that moment.

:-)
