Alright Farmall guys - here's the question.

I bought a pretty cheap 400 diesel that runs alright but dumps fuel out of the injector pump oil fill cap. Obviously something is bypassing within the injector pump, but I was mainly wondering whether these units are easily rebuildable and whether repair parts are still available. Any tips on what could be wrong or how to rebuild would be helpful. Thanks alot!

Your problem is in the littel pump on the back the seal is out and this is not a hard job to tackel and the seal can be bought from you Case I H dealer just take the #'s off the pump and take a ride.

I bought a 48 MD. Its pump was varnished into oblivion. I was not a diesel mechanic, but I am a capable clean mechanic with an orderly nature. I took mine apart to the bones and cleaned it, oiled it and put it back together. It runs very well. No rocket science, just patience. I believe seal kits can be found for them. I do not have a source, others might. Be clean from the beginning, and do not force components. Books are mandatory for this process. JimN
