Hytran Use in older tractors

Can Hytran hydralic fluid be safely used in older(C & SH) hydralic systems? I would like to use that in all my tractors if possible. I have a C-50 model Case-IH that requires the Hytran. If I can go Hytran in the older ones I don"t have to worry about what tractors have what oil.

Thanks

Mike

I've used Hy-Tran in all the hydraulic systems back to the belly pumps on the H and M with no problems. It is definitaly what you want to use in the live hydraulic systems, and ANY tractor with TA needs Hy-Tran.

I don't use it in any tractors without TA, though. Too much gear noise and takes forever for the gears to stop spinning when you push in the clutch.

mwilke: Go hy tran all the way for hydraulics. Your hydraulis will perform better and you'll have less repair. Just don't use it in transmissions or final drives.

Hugh,

It has been many years now but I was told by the C-IH shop foreman I could use hytran in my 300 and SM. Never had any problems with it.

Steveormary: I was thinking back older than 300 when I said that. Basically anything with TA, IH were calling for Hy tran in transmissions since shortly after they started building them. If it's old enough that it doesn't have TA then I'd go gear oil for transmission and Hy tran in hydraulics. It's been my experience Hy tran will leak where gear oil doesn't.

i run hytran in all my older ih tractors, even use it in the belly pumps on the h and m's. never had a problem. good thing is when you hook up something to the hydraulics, you know its all the same fluid.
