Gentlemen, Driving my recently inherited Tractor from my parent's house to mine yesterday, I noticed it seemed to be 'limping' (can't think of a better word). It seemed like the right and left axles werent quite in sync. Any ideas what could cause that? Also, my left brake doesn't work. Is that difficult to work on? Thanks for your ideas.

you mention one brake doesnt work. Same on mine, and when I go to stop its like the tractor limps to a stop or moresolike tries to veer a tad. maybe after you get the brakes fixes this problem will go away? maybe one side of the brakes is dragging...

I just recently bought a Farmall 350 that had been sitting for 12 years out in the woods. The tires held air which was unbelieveable. I pumped them up and towed it home 4 miles. My son drove the dead 350 on a cold day in December. I couldn't go any faster than about half throttle in road gear towing him or he would about bounce off the seat. In fact it shook loose some things on the tractor before we got home. The tires never did get round, even the front tires. Roger

Yeah, the rear tires are often square, especially if they've been sitting.

There's nothing like roaring up the road for the first load of the day with cold tires, and boy does she get to buckin' if the flat spots just happen to get together :)

I agree with Wheety, without any wierd noise, it is quite likely that imballance and flat spotting is what you are encountering. The rears are heavy and not well ballanced. As they age they are also becomming harder in composition. This results in taking a "set" and being lumpy in motion. To view this, jack up and block one axle (with good support) and operate the tractor watching the tire go around will show you irregularities. JimN

Has the tractor been sitting long?? Is there fluid in them? Might be some flat spots on the tires, they should go away after awhile.. my 2C
