Farmall C questions

I have a Farmall C that appears to need A) a new distributor shaft bushing, as it is loose and the ignition sputters, and B) a new or adjusted governor - it either idles or goes wide open.

Any places you'd recommend to get parts for this old gal? I'm still using it around the farm, but I'd like to have it running better. Thanks!

Have you had the governor off the engine to inspect it for wear? Before you remove it, check for any binding in the throttle to governor actuating rod area. I just got through ordering parts for a governor from IH, & all except two parts are available yet.

You should be able to get the parts you need at the IH dealer. Dave..

The bushing can be replaced by a machine shop. Lowes, or a good hardware store, may have one. If the shaft is worn, the bushing can be installed so it runs back into the cast drive housing about 1/2" giving new life to the dist. The play should be between .0005 and .0008. if it is as much as .002 it will have too much cam angle variation (it does now) Governor components are still available to some degree, I have no experience in them other than bushings.
