My 282 is real tired in my 656 Hydro Utility, I found a good running 263 gas, besides the obvious wiring and fuel changes, is there anything standing in my way?

I was just looking at different options. Not sure what it will cost to rebuild the 282, It"s really hard to start, smokes and spits black fluid out the exhaust, has a lot of blow by also. I can get the complete 263 for about $600,

Ok just to stick my nose in.
A 656D hydro is a pretty sweet rig.Great resale value.
A 656G hydro is ok. Not very good resale compared to a D.

Go ahead and stick that gasser in there if your getting it cheap, but dont get rid of that 282.
Wait until you have the time/money and rebuild that puppy.

Elrod,

Don't listen to Rusty, he always confuses the issue by using old-fashioned logic.

Yes, it will bolt right in. Can ya forward the diesel on to me? :>)

What's wrong with just rebuilding the 282? At least then you will know what you have, and your tractor will still be all original.
