I'm having the same problem as BDE , except he didn't say where exactly the gas was coming out at. Mine is coming out the little brass plug on the very bottom of the carb. Just put new kit in and this is the first time i have had gas to it.

Is this an overflow? or is there a hole where there is not supposed to be?

That "plug" should be nothing more than a small disc with a small hole in it, that is "staked" into the bottom of the carb. There should be some sort of filter material behind it. The purpose of this is to serve as a means of escape for the moisture and condensation that develops in the manifold after shutting off the engine. The only way that gas can escape from this hole is if the fuel level was so high that the gas is flowing up and over the main metering stem, which means that either your float level is incorrect, or the needle valve is not holding. Sometimes ya gotta "help" that new needle learn what it is supposed to do by tapping lightly on the top front of the carb while the fuel is turned on. Sometimes it works, sometimes it's back to the drawing board.

I had a strange thing happen with a carb that had a new kit and still leaked. The pin that holds the float was not long enough and let the float fall down inside. I made a new pin from a nail, and solved the problem. Probably not yours, but it"s a remote possibility.

yup i think the h carburetor has a curse or something. my h dripped when ever it wanted. had the carb apart a bunch of times, replaced needle and seats, adj float ect. finally found 3 things wrong. the bowl gasket was a little too wide, held the float open, then the float was bent a little and was rubbing on the lower bowl side, and third, like yours the pin would slide out of the float after you put the bowl back on. the shaft was loose in the support. squeezed the one end of the support so the pin wouldnt slide. finally got it to stop drippin.

Pretty sure that is a drain hole for excess gas, if it keeps coming out, then your float is out of adjustment or the needle and seat is not in correctly.

I will let Rusty Farmall chime in here.
