I asked this question on Tractor Talk, but no one seemed to know the answer. The Jan/Feb Red Power magazine has an article on a TD 4 dozer. I can't find any reference to one. Is it like a SHTA?

I noticed it looked like a TD-6. I have never seen a TD-4 but the TD-4 and TD-5 were small frame crawlers and did not have the gas start diesel which was mentioned on this crawler, so the pictured crawler must be a TD-6.

Yes, I noticed that TD4 too, and think it's incorrectly identified. If you note the dual fuel filters and the pressure guage on the injector pump that are visible in the pic, as well as the overall scale, I believe it's a TD-6. My only authority on this is that I own a -6, and have spent my time working on it when my Dad was still alive, so I have a little familiarity with the beast. Cindy Ladage, as you are probably aware, often has an article or two in Red Power, and they are always very well written. However, I think somebody took their eye off the ball on this one. Nice trac, though, whatever it is, and a nice story to go with it.

It would be a T-4, The smallest in a line of 3 built from 1959 thru 1964 at the IH plant in Hamilton Ontario Canada.
T-4, 123 gas 28dbhp, +- 5800 lbs
T-5, 135 gas 32dbhp, +- 6000 lbs
TD-5 144 diesel 30dbhp, +- 5900 lbs

In 1965 they became the 500 series, in late 1969 the 500C, & in 1975 the 500E. production ended in 1978.
