The Quad City Times had an interesting article this morning on the RI Farmall plant.

It is so sad to see another piece of history destroyed. It is just a huge piece of Farmall history that will be gone forever.

Great link. Very moving. I hope when the city rebuilds in the area, they have the sense to dedicate the main avenue as Farmall Drive.

Of course the intersecting streets would have to be named M, H, A, B & C.

It would be only right!

I would love to see the documentary that they filmed. Its so sad when any part of history is tore down like that. It reminds me how old we are getting, how things are changing.

Realistically, the plant cant be there forever. I'm sure the plant was not in good shape, sitting there for 14 years. It would have taken alot to fix her up and use her for other manufacturing. With all the jobs moving overseas, there's probably nothing to build there anyways. =\

I would imagine that the Max Armstrong who made the documentary is the same Max Armstrong who does most of the old tractor stuff on RFD-TV. Maybe they'll show it, or at least sell the DVDs.
Of anybody sees that it's going to be on let us know, ok?

Great article, thanks for posting.

What a shame. Another very very important of our past just getting swept away.
