I plead a bit of ignorance here as we never owned or had use of 350 Diesel with continental motor. What was used as a starter aid in cold weather. I know it does not have glow plugs so was it a manifold air warmer or??? Do they start ok if everything is working? How was the power on this 193 motor and can you tweek them up a bit with fuel and rpm? Have chance to get a complete motor with pump, lines, manifolds and filters and kinda looking for some feedback from current and past owners. This motor was in a utility and I want to install it in a row crop. I have all the manual frame sheets and it appears that there was frame supports that held up the front of the motor. Any ideas where to find a pair of those and was the water pump and fan assembly interchangeable with any other models? Sorry about the long post but sure could use some help here. Thanks Migraine

I had one and once I looked in the book and found out just how long you had to hold the heater on it started very well. Just look at your watch when holding the button, 1 minute takes longer than you think.

Migrane, Don't think you should use either on the continental engine, it has the energy cell injection system, I know you can,t turbo them. If I remember correctly they called the energy cell injection the Lunar( or something close) system after the guy that invented it.Diesel guys can tell you more about this, been a lot of years ago I had mine.

It does have energy cells, but the manifold heater is a factory piece and works well.

If the compression is good and the timing is correct , they start rather easily. Mine has a manifold heater that does the job. At 70 degrees or above it needs nothing.

My Dad had one in the 60's and pulled 3-16 plows with it. Always had to use ether to start his when it was even just cool outside but it always started.

The 350 diesel has a electric manifold heating element in it. Mine starts very well in all weather. The GD 193 engine has power to spare. The fuel can be turned up a little. I dont know about motor mounts, but water pump is different and quite expensive. The hydraulic pump and hood panels are also different.Good Luck
