I recently bought a very nice farmall 544 and would like to put a wide front under it. I will use the tractor some for spraying and planting 30-40 acres of corn or soybeans. I also may want to take the tractor to some local shows. I'm trying to decide on a front end. I can get a brand new never installed Schwartz for $650 from from a friend who bought it then sold his tractor. I would guess an IH front end would be 900-1000 and probably need rebuilding. Would the Schwartz look that bad?

The Schwartz will be fine. It also turns shorter than the IH front end

Go with the Schwartz, they are a very good front-end - in my opinion the IH front is not worth more than a Schwartz... if anything, the other way around.

Does it look like this one?

The Schwartz will be just fine. It will fit the same as an original IH.

Trent, congrats on the purchase. Let us know more bout it Gas /deisel, hydro? I have a 544D Hydro and I really love it. Very handy, but I really need to add a gear drive to the farm for the same thing you are planning with yours. I am not sure but woudnt a schwartz front end stick out in front of the tractor more thsan the Ih? If so, to me, that would just not look right.

It's a gas, gear drive with TA, very good condition with original paint and 2400 hours.
