Time to get serious about converting the 240 to a 12 volt system. Does anyone know of a 12 volt bulb that will fit the original headlamps? The part number of the 6 volt bulbs is 373 661 R91.

I'm not sure if the Farmall housing is the same as a IH 240 but I got two at Auto Zone that fit. I bought the plugs also but had to take the connectors out as there was not enough room in the housing. Just bend the prongs on the sealed beam down. They measure a little over five inches and there is no room for a gasket. Probably the same sealed beams as came out in the 58 Chevys and Fords. David.

K.B.: You say bulbs, doesn't the 240 have sealed beams? I've never had a 240, but did own 3 tractors from that series and they all had sealed beams. The 140s and 240s I've seen have the same light, just a roughly 4" version of what was on 460 and 560. With my 140 I can buy modern day 4" sealed beams in both 6 and 12 volt at just about any automotive store. It's the same sealed beam as used in later rubber mount tractor lights.

I've got a Super M that was partly converted to 12v. On my back light I was able to get the bulb at an Auto Parts store. It works Just fine too. I don't know what size that your bulb is but Any Auto part store seems cary a large selection, see it one of those works. IF it's a sealed beam headlight (Which my front lights are) you'll have to order new lights I bought mine from this Site. If you live close to a farm supply store i've seen them for $15, a real good price. I'm new to restoration so i don't know if this is helpfull for you but I hope it will help a little
