Kirk,

IH didn't even have a cab of their own design until about '72.

Prior to that all IH cabs were manufactured by sublet outfits, as was the "diamond" cab that you are referring to.

I think those diamonds were made by Excel and they were all aftermarket bolt-ons that could/could not have been installed by IH. If the cab has the IH logo or patch, it was installed at the factory.

After 1972, IH offered 2 cab designs, the "deluxe" and the "custom", both of which were swept-backs and they stayed in service on all IH tractors with varying paint schemes up until the 86 series made it's debut in 1977.

Hi allan,
i got your letter, and i liked the thing,s you said about IH cab,s,
Yea i think those were the diamond cab,s in the early 70,s
like them better then the swept back one,s of later yrs
Id like to have a 1466 with duall,s and the castwheel,s with hols in them,
really sweet looking,
like the sound of the later IH diesel,s, raspy, but still smooth, kinda like a Roll,s Merlin aircraft engine,
Keep in touch, ok, I also have a W-6 Im wanting to redo too,
