My C quit on me last night. I pulled the distributor cap off this morning and the blade from the rotor fell out on to the floor. The distributor shaft has about 1/16" to 1/8" play. I suspect this allowed the rotor to hit one of the towers in the distributor cap. Does this sound right? I suspect that I'm allowed 0 play in this shaft. Can I rebuild my distributor, new bushings, etc or am I looking at buying a new/rebuilt distributor?

Hope your new year is starting out better than mine. Dave.

Ther is no bushing in distribitur originally, machine shop can bore housing and put in brass bushing but, at todays machine shop charges it might be cheaper to buy good used or rebuilt distributor.
