The original switch is shot on my B. I was wondering if you could us a toggle switch. On off style with two terminals. Ground one of the terminals to the tractor; think it would work no problem. Or a push pull switch would work too. Just what to see what you guys think.

Bought 2 battery type switches from CASE/IH dealer 2 or 3 years ago for about $15 each. Asked for switch for M and they brought out switchs with Case/IH parts no. in Case/IH box but, it was entirely different switch from original fit and works fine though. One of these would work great with one side to ground would be push to run pull to stop though have driven several pieces of equipment that had original kill switch that worked that way.

Whatever you do, use an original switch, or a GOOD substitute.

If you use some cheap @%%*& switch not made for the purpose, and it gets a little damp and/or gets some conductive dust in it, it will bleed off some primary current from the mag, and make for a weak spark/hard starting/poor running tractor.

There is quite a peak-to-peak voltage put out by the mag's primary circuit in normal operation, and attenuating it with a poor quality switch is NOT a good thing.

I have repaired some of the 1 wire switches by gently & slowly prying open the crimp on the back of the switch so the back can be removed. Usually they are very dirty and a good cleaning and some grease are all you need to get the switch working again. There is a small ball bearing and spring inside so be careful on disassembly.
Carefully re-crimp the casing; use a bit of J-B Weld if you break off a piece.

The original type (reproduction) is available on this site for $75.75 plus $10.00 shipping. For that price I believe I would have to improvise as far as automaticly cutting off tractor by instinct I drive so many different vehicles and none have kill switch of same type or in same location do not think instinct would help me much.

I see the original IH magneto type on ebay all the time. Usually, they go pretty cheap, especially compared to the battery IH style with two connectors. mike

You can use a chainsaw switch too. It has only one terminal cause the case goes to ground. Get the correct switch when you can so the time police don't bust your chops.Try not to drill and extra holes in your baby. Jeffcat
