I"m thinking of taking my Dad"s 1953 Super C rather than letting it go at auction. If I do, I always thought I would like a fast hitch on it. What other tractor"s fast hitch would fit? I know it"s not all that easy to locate them so it may be nice to expand the field.

I personally like the fast hitch since it is truly unique to a IH-Farmall tractor, but I am surprised that no one has mentioned putting on a 3 point hitch as an option. Everything I hear from people about the third party 3-point hitches is that they work like a charm. Much as I like the fast hitch, there are many times I wish I had a 3 point simply because it is the standard. Trying to find fast hitch equipment is a challenge and doing the conversion of 2-point to 3 point is often a pain at best.

I certainly respect your opinion and it is shared by several folks. I personally don't think any of the letter series row crop tractors are made for using a 3 point hitch. They are all rear entry to the operators station and crawling over a mounted 3 point implement to the tractor seat is quite a chore unless you are quite young and agile. I have an IHC factory 2 point to 3 point adapter which works fine if you need to use a 3 point implement on occasion. The 2 point fast hitch system has capabilities that you will never obtain using a 3 point system.

I tried sending you an email but don't think it went through. First, I would encourage you to keep the tractor in the family as these family tractors become real treasures down the road and are very difficult to loacte and purchase later.
Secondly, Hugh MacKay is right on when he stated to make sure you have the entire system. It is not that difficult to find a fast hitch but you really need everything. Your best bet is to obtain a TC-44 Super C parts catalog so you know what should be included. This will include the remote valve unit which provides hydraulic pressure to the fast hitch cylinder. Other common missing parts are the leveling link and the level lock link. These will all be shown in the parts catalog.
I have a 1953 Super C with a 2 point fast hitch and find it very usable. I have located quite a few 2 point implements and use them frequently. The IHC 2 point system has features which do not exist on even modern 3 point tractors. It is very true that 3 point implements are easier to find and maybe a little cheaper. I have found in my search for 2 point implements some very nice folks along the way who have become very good friends. Their friendship more then makes up for any inconvience in locating fast hitch items. I will be happy to share anything you might want additional information on concerning your 2 point questions or concerns. Just send an email if you want more information. Hope this helps and Happy New Year, Hal.

Hal: You are quite correct, as near as I can figure, as of 2007, Farmall Super C and 200 with fast hitch are the only two tractors ever built where by one can change depth and side tilt, of plow, hydraulically on the go while plowing.

And yes there is a good supply of fast hitch implements in suitable size for these tractors.

Happy New Year, Hugh, That is probably very true "on the go" especially true - just touch a little lever on the control unit while seated. I find the down-pressure control when using my post hole auger to be especially useful. Not to push the unit in the ground but to control it from taking off and screwing into the ground where you would have to manually unscrew it back up as the tractor probably couldn't retract it. A 3 point has no control on a screwing down auger. Also, I have a IH rear grader blade and since we live down about a 1/2 mile gravel road, the blade works great for removing the middle hump and putting the gravel back in the tracks. Just tilt one corner down a little and the blade takes half the center to the rut and turn around at the end and go back with the blade putting the rest of the hump in the other rut. Level the blade and just do a lite level job and you are good to go. All, of this by just moving a couple of levers on the touch control and nothing more. Have a good one, Hal.

fasthitch implements are great tools, they are a little harder to find but they are out there. There is a lot of fasthitch stuff in the tobacco belt for super c. For example Kentucky,North Carolina,Tennesee ect.I have a 209 two 12 inch bottom spring trip plow now I would be willing to part with .

Thanks for the info...I thought maybe a 200 would work but wasn"t sure. I know the 2 points aren"t very practical....it was more just to have that milestone in farmalls history. I may just focus on a total restoration first keeping my eye out for a complete hitch or as was mentioned a donor tractor.

If I take the tractor, I will be posting more.

Thanks again.

Super C and 200 fast hitches are the only fast hitches that will bolt up to the chassis of your Super C.

An even bigger consideration is make sure you have it all, including the remote valve that operates the hitch. There are numerous parts to these hitches quite often taken off a doner tractor one part at a time, thus tend to get lost or used for another purpose. Your best bet is get a parts book, to be sure you have all. Finding missing parts for a fast hitch often turns expensive.

The fast hitch is an IH inovation that didnt last. The industry had set the 3 pt as the standard and eventually IH gave in. I believe there are a few variations of the 2 point and only 1 of the 1 point. Finding implements is not as easy as 3point implements, those are EVERYWHERE
