I recently started working on a '46 Miccormick W-9. The tractor runs, but needs alot of work, and I have some questions. 1.Where can I buy a new rubber shift boot?
2.Are rebuild parts availible for the fuel pump, or is it best to just use gravity feed?
3.Is the mag. different from the ones used on the H or M? I want to buy a junk mag. and rebuild it as the one on the tractor works, but the impulse is broke. If you have a correct mag. for this tractor let me know. 4.Any advice on getting more power out of the old beast will help.
Thanks in advance everyone!

If your tractor has fuel pump on it, the motor has been replaced with a crawler motor, or just a factory "crate" motor, set up with the pump. I"d just bypass the pump, or take it off. Those pumps were common and can be rebuilt easily, or go to NAPA and get new diaphragm material and rebuild it yourself.

I have an I-9 mag but the distributor cap has been off for many years. All the IH caps may be the same. My parts books would confirm that statement.

D Slater has determined that the rotation is different from the other IH gas mags. The gas and diesel turn in the same direction on the big tractors. However, the gas and diesel use different part numbers.

If you have an interest my mag, email me. I will look for the numbers on it. I can send pics as well.

I can't help on parts as my source is gone.

My WR9 has used gravity feed for 40+ years.

The mag is different than M or H as the rotation is different from one or both. Dad had put on a distributor and advance was backwards and retarded spark.

Original bore was 4.4". Later parts are 4.5" I have three used sleeves and high compression pistons at 4.5" available. More cubes = some more power.

I'm interested in the 4.5 P/S - need to know number of rings (3,4,5) - Height of the compression chamber.

General condition of parts.

Please reply to email listed with contact information.

Thanks

Wardner, I sent you a email. Roger in Iowa, do you know if your dad was able to reverse the advance in the distributer so it worked correctly?
Thanks

Dad got another distributor off of another W9.
I do not know if you can reverse directions.

My tractor is under tractor photos. Search for "Rice" and look for Roger.
