In rebuilding my Super A, I have come across a small problem. I was asked if the engine had a water pump or not when I purchased the head gasket. The engine does have a pump and I received a gasket that has much small water passages than the one I took off the engine. The holes will be restrictive as opposed to the gasket that had passages the full size of the ones in the block and head.

Should I be concerned about using the new gasket with the smaller water passages or go with it? My thought is that it will be OK, but I just wanted another opinon.

Thanks in advance, Greg

Man it's been 30 yrs since I've worked on a SA. The early SA's used a siphon system to circulate water and needed the large holes in the gasket. The later ones with a water pump used a gasket with smaller holes. Either someone has put the wrong gasket on your tractor or has added a water pump to an older tractor. Sorry I don't know the serial # when this was done. The gasket with small holes will work fine.

As long as it has a water pump, the gasket with the smaller passages should be just fine.
