Hi fellas, been awhile since I've been able to check the discussion forum or post. Here's my situation. I've got several antique tractors, Farmall M, H, B, and a JD B. All are sentimental and restored tractors and don't do much work. I recently took a different job in Nebraska and was fortunate enough to buy a house with 10 acres, and a 50X70 Morton. I'm in need of a tractor to push snow, blade gravel and move a few round bales. More than what I'd like to do with my antiques. (May make up to 80 acres of rented hay ground) Anyway, been pricing used utility tractors with loaders anything from JD 2440's to 4020's and IH 574's to 826's. Been a little surprised at the sticker shock of these tractors, most with 5000-10,000 hours. Anyway here's the point, my dad, back in Iowa, has the entire farm rented or in CRP, he bought a new JD 5320 and loader to run the bush hog, push snow etc. He still has the 1980 IH 986 that he bought new. The tractor only has 2900 original hours. He likes to keep it around to run a 3 point blade to clean out driveways when he gets snow, and doesn't want to get cold on the open station 5320. Anyway, he's offered up this tractor for me, so I don't have to go buy one that's wore out. I'm quessing that with some wax and new foam kit, and an updated AC system, I'd have a pretty good tractor. It'd look a little silly running a 5' rotary cutter on 10 acres but sure would be nice if I rented the hay ground. Any suggestions?

Well it sounds like the price is right, and since there has never been a real problem with the oil pressure just reading low what have you got to lose. Also you know all the history on this big red girl and it IS your DADS tractor. Keep her in the family.. Tallperson
