My gear selector, the "1-2-3-4" selector, went out yesterday on my 1066. It seems like some sort of linkage "came un linked." I am going to try to get at the selector by removing the panels; it has a cab and isn't going to be an easy fete. Any suggestions or things I should look for?
Thanks.

Well it is one of three things (1) the as i call them the cub cadet tierod ends fell apart and this will requier removal of the right fuel tank cover and being that it has a cab let the fun begin . (2) as said below the pin came out , now some are callen this a ROLLED pin but they are not as they are a tappered GROOVED pin and amy have been replaced withy a ROLLED or roll pin . OR not real common but it could be down under the top cover . Most of the time it is the littel tierod end that can and will come apart or one of the nuts came off . You can sneak that side pannel out but i will warn ya ahead of time that she will have a FEW scratches on her when done , ya have to remove the center strip first and loosen up the cab ft mounts will help along with jacking up the cab a couple inches .

Factory cab or aftermarket? Tilt or non-tilt?

TSH, A Roll-pin on the linkage has shered in all probiblity. It is located in the right rear corner of the Steering/Gear selector console. Right @ shoe sole "floor" level. You will need to remove the RH Batt, And the inspection plate on the front on the console "you shoes are always resting on this plate".
The shifter is a vertical shaft in that tight RH rear corner. If youn have the tractor in nuetral, place the selector in Nuetral too then take a small punch and hammer and drive the remains out, then install a new one!
Mine shared a number of years back. It had some slack, so I converted mine to a 1/4 bolt. If you do this you will need to shortened it so NO threads stick out past the nut! That is how slim the tollerences are in that corner.
Hope this helps!
Later,
John A.

TSH, Sorry my 966 is an open station, The best way is for you to go trough the RH Batt. But you may still get help from someone elses hands throught the inspection plate.
Later,
John A.

There is a roll pin at the bottom of the vertical shaft right at the top of the speed transmission. It sounds like that pin is sheared. I had to replace the one on mine and I got to it by removing the right side battery and going in that way.
