The manuel states that to remove the coupling from the pump to turn it counter-clockwise. Are the threads on the transmission side coupling the same, or are they left hand? I cannot get it to move. I am trying the recommended brass punch and hammer.
Thanks

Shift the transmission into reverse, lock the brakes, and take a pipe wrench or pry bar that fits the slot and rotate the coupler counter-clockwise(left).

The pump is out of the tractor. The one I am trying to get off is the one on the transmission side of the tractor. The parts man at the dealership said one was right hand thread and one was left hand. I know the one on the pump is right hand thread.
Thanks for helping.

The dealer is not correct. Both of them are right hand thread. To get the one off the transmission countershaft, put the PTO in gear and then use a PTO shaft on the splines to lock the shaft in place. Then insert a bar though the slot in the coupling nut and apply some torque in the appropriate direction. If that does not do it, a few sharp raps with a hammer on the bar should break it loose. Since the operating torque is in the direction that tightens the coupling, they can be really tight and hard to break loose.

It's all right hand thread. Sometimes a challenge to get off.

is the lift all pump out of the tractor? if not rotate the pump shaft by hand until the coupling in up and down. it is basically a steel disk with two key ways 90 degress apart, loosen the pump and it will drop straight out. its real heavy be careful, use a hydraulic jack to support the pump. when the pump is off, remove the cover and separate the pump from the housing. you can slide a piece of brass flat stock, 1-8 " by 1 inch in the pump to hold the gear and then use a brass punch to rotate the coupling out of the pump.
