I have an old Farmall H that was running, then suddenly died as if you were to turn off the ignition. I will turn just fine but is not getting any fire. Any ideas as to what might be wrong? It has a new coil and cap already. Thanks alot.

Ignition switch may have gone bad, points may have slipped, and or the rotor may have gone bad. I would first try a hot wire from the battery to the coil. If it starts then you know you have a problem for the coil back to the battery. If it doesn't start then you have a problem in the distubutor or the coil has gone out. I have a tractor that every once in a while the rotor will just plain die on me. I put in a new one and I'm good to go for a year or 2, its funny but for some reason the rotor like to just plain stop doing its job

Remove the distributor cap and bump the engine over to make sure the rotor is turning. If you have voltage at the coil on both small terminals
with points open, I would run apiece of 320 wet or dry through those points to clean them. Check the gap too, should be at .020".

If it still doesn't start replace the condenser.

Tom offers some good advice in the post below. Don't overlook the possibility that the ignition switch itself is bad. I had one quit suddenly on my M when pushing snow about 4 years ago. Those original switches are getting old, and a few are giving up.

It quit "as if you turned off the ignition" This is probably exactly what happened. Take your tester and see if you have any voltage to the coil. If not, work backwards and find the break in the wire. If you have voltage, test the coil for output. The remedy is to repair and replace as needed. On this site somewhere, there is a comprehensive set of instructions for trouble shooting...I saw it recently.
