Got a '41 H today- hydraulic question

I drug home a "41 H today- a little ugly, but it runs real good. It has some sort of hydraulic valve mounted above the belt pulley housing that I guess is for two way hydraulics. A hose comes from the belly, and the other hoses are capped off. I want to remove it. Do I just plug the holes, or is there something else to it? Also, what does it take to remove the belt pulley setup? I want to lighten the tractor for occasional pulling, and I don"t need hydraulics or the belt pulley. Thanks for your help.

Yea, just cap them off, itll be fine, but if you are going to junk that part, let me know.If you going to drop the pump, just removethe extra pipes and cap them off in case you ever want ot reinstall it.Belt pulley comes off pretty easily once the bolts are out, but youll need something to cover the hole.I used a peice of steel, used the pattern from my new gasket and cut and drilled the holes. Some of these holes also go through the top of the tranny case.

If your not going to use the hyd. pump, you could remove the drive coupling. Might give you a couple more horsepower. Just remove the sheet metal cover on the bottom and you can get to it. Short shaft with a sleeve on each end with cotter pins through it. It probably has oil leaking out of the transmission anyway, and you can replace the seal. ken
