T 20 mag/ dist question

on a t20 track tractor with a hand crank only engine tractor has a dist with a gen to charge the battery.all this looks to be factory.question is why the battery ignition,there dosn"t appear to have been any lights or other electric stuff? what mag would fit if wanted to go mag route reason being i think the mag would give you a better spark for starting? any and all ideas appreciated.

kirk forgot to mention that the gen is bolted into the engine like a starter would be and is of course gear driven. thanks

Hmmm never seen a T20 with that. In any case, you will want an IHC F4 magneto. Rebuild F4s can be found on ebay or this site in the photo adds. You can even contact Nebraska Cowman, I am sure he would have some.

The distributer ignition was not installed by the IHC factory, someone at a later date added it. The T20 came factory equiped with an IHC F4 magneto, the same mag that was used on other IHC tractors of that era, F20, F30, W30 etc.
