Rather than starting with a pile of iron, welder and torch, does anybody out there make sort of universal winch mount kits for trailers?

Thanks, Keith. Nice clean, versatile installation. I could do that. My trailer is pretty short so I would probably need to mount the winch higher.

Leon, the one place I messed up, I should have used a piece of heavy wall pipe for my T, instead of the 2x2 square tubing. This would let my winch pivot right or left, depending on where I was attached to unit I was pulling on trailer.

You could weld a piece of channel iron across inside you trailer tongue, then weld your 2 1/4 reciever tubing to that(instead of on the front of trailer frame) about where my front angle iron bracket is. This is how I am going to move my winch forward.

The angle iron frame is for my utility box. Which I keep chainsaw, bar oil,gas and tool box for all tools needed just for saw.

Leon, lots of questions, 1. flat bed trailer or 5th/wheel?
2. you intend to leave winch mounted on trailer?
3. do you intend to use the winch for other proposes.

I use my winch on more than one trailer, also on the front or rear of my truck.

I'll look and see if I still have pictures on Photobucket.com. If they are there will post them.
