If it is comming out of the cover behind the pump, but in front of where the hitch swinging drawbar attaches, it is probably trans 90 wt oil (especially if it smells sulfery) that seal is also in the same location and the pump needs to be pulled to service it. A stiff square 1/2"X1/2" bar will turn the coupling nut off (many posts on the countershaft seal on Hs and Ms). No big deal, keep the fluid up in the interum (plug on left in front of left brake on side of trans) should be within one finger joint of the bottom of the plug hole. JimN

Mark, that is not an issue that requires splitting. (if it is indeed Hydro oil) The pump comes out of the bottom by removing all the pipe fittings and control lever. Turning the drive coupling to it from the trans countershaft so it is vertical, then lowering the pump on a floor jack. It is cool to operate the tractor without the pump, just cover the hole with a 16ga sheet metal plate. The pump seals are available, and not hard to repair. Keep us in formed. JimN

If its leaking in the middle of your tractor it could be ether the seal or gasket on the belly pump or there are 2 shafts going into the transmission that have a seal. The belly pump has its own hydraulic oil so if its a light oil its probably the pump. You can remove the dust cover between the pump and transmission and have a look without removing the pump, You can drop the pump out rather easily (does take 2 people because of the weight), intall a seal and put it back. It might help to disconect the drive shaft to the pump as a temporary fix. You should be able to get the seal at a dealer or take the numbers off of it to a NAPA store.
