I can get a pretty good 1100 9 foot trail mower at incredible cheep. It will require about 350 dollars in parts to bring it back to life. I have been using an IH 100, 7 foot. What are the good and bad of the 1100's? I just put 300 dollars in new parts in the 100, plus box rebuild. What is the now like new 100 worth? Anyone need it?

Gordo

Back in the 60's in So Dak, my dad traded in his New Idea (more like Bad Idea) mower in on a 100 IH mower with a 9 foot bar. That mower would really cut alfalfa. One day I was mowing and when I was coming home I stopped to show our neighbor our new mower (he was mowing alfafa at the time). He asked if I would make a round with him to see how well the new mower worked. He was mowing with a John Deere pitman mower and I mowed in 4th gear with the Super H which is 6 mph. I lapped him on the second round, plus I was cutting better than his John Deere. The next week he was mowing with a new 100 as our neighbor always had to have the best. My dad tried to get a commission from the IH dealer because he told them about I had really sold the mower. Roger

Thats one heck of a mower. We've owned them since the early 70's. That wobble box lower bearing is a major weak spot. So is the bar. They crack where they meet the wobble box. After many, MANY acres the breakaway casting cracks where the lift linkage shaft mounts. The usual giveaway that it is cracked is constant breaking of the lift linkage shaft.

The 1100 is an updated 100. The mower is shorter and has an improved cylinder mounting set up.

There is a guy in Aberdeen SD that rebuilds those wobble boxes for a living. He's very good and his price is reasonable.

If you have any questions drop me an email and I will give you my phone number.

John

I use a IH 1300 mower and the only problem with it was the lower bearing on the wobble box was just too small. Machine shop bored for a larger bearing. It has cut a many, many acre of hay and still going strong. The lower bearing takes more abuse than the top and therefore need some help. HTH
Good Luck..... .

Where at in SD?

The 1100 is just an updated version of the 100 from my understanding of it. I think they beefed up the crankshaft in the wobble box on them, and probably has a better frame for the trailer part of the mower.

Whatcha asking for the 100? Ours is getting pretty tired...
