The bake-lite type piece that is on the inside of the distributor where the coil and points hook up to is broken. I cannot seem to locate a place that can supply this piece, but will continue to search. Can someone help out with info as to what its called, a part number, or phone number of a place that carries it?

thanks in advance for any help.

If you have IH distributor the Case/IH online parts catalog shows the insulator to be current part number..... .353 906 R1 spring anchor terminal insulator.

First which one do you have PRESTOLITE,DELCO REMY or I-H. Probably be easier to get a piece of plastic and make a new one. You need to find someone who has a junk dist to get the part but you do need to know which dist you have.

Do you mean the bolt that passes through the distributor shell, insulated by 2 bakelite blocks?

Is this an OEM IH distributor, or a Delco aftermarket unit?

If IH, here's a link to a diagram, and the part numbers for items #10 and #11, which are likely still good, or "subbed".

Link

(You'll have to cut and paste. This site won't accept the link directly.)

If it's a Delco distributor, I can help with a part number and a source, also.

NO it Won't! it was there when I checked it in "Submit reply" but then it got eaten. Apparantly, you have to use cut and paste, which works for everything else, rather than copy and paste -- not going to try it again.

I believe you are taking about the relatively flat separator piece that goes in a delco distributor unit under the rotor, and the cap then sits on top of it.

This is a good question; have not researched yet, would like a couple myself. Try Napa auto parts, they came up with the right cap (RR145), rotor (RR174)and points(CS763A)for mine. But it took some searching and a feller with very gray hair; like mine. Echlin makes the best electrical parts in my opinion.

I do have an old one at the farm, that would work for you, but think we both need to come up with a source for a new one.

My bad. Took my time to read your post a second time. You are talking about the insulator post that runs through the distributor housing.

IH might still offer, but unlikely. Depending on which distributor your have, IH or Delco, finding a replacement may be tricky. Old IH combines have the same distributor to aid in your search. If you can find a shop in your area that use to rebuild and time distributors you might get lucky.

I'll look at the farm when I go down and see if I have an old unit that the isolator would still be good on. Sorry for misreading you.

Lindsey: You'll have to either buy a new distributor, try finding the piece at a rebuild shop or find a used distributor.

Lindsey: Sounds like your describing a distributor cap, and they are available at just about any farm store in the land. Take the old one with to make sure you have the right size. CaseIH will have them as well. Most auto parts stores can get them and if your in an agricultural area, I'll bet they have them in stock.
