You can also use a regular Delco. Someone put a nice picture of an installation on the forum awhile back, and I can send you a copy if you want. email me. (I have not been able to successfully post a picture on here.) Happy Holidays!

how do you make it a negative ground.if you do the changes to the coil and hook the s lug to bat lug does this make it neg grounded.

You ground the negative terminal on the 12 volt battery. You will need a ballast resistor between the ignition switch and the coil or you can buy a 12 volt coil from NAPA p/n 1C14SB with a built in resistor. You need to reverse the wiring on the coil too since your battery will be negative grounded. The wire from the - neg terminal on the coil will go the distributor. Hal

I sent you an email with specific directions. You can also do a search on this site using 12 volt conversion or alternator for your search terms and get the old posts.

It is relatively simple. You are tricking a "three wire" system into more or less thinking it is a single wire unit.

The unit fits nice under the hood if you take the time to make up a good bracket.

There is a Ford alternator that will fit,,, 88 or newer 5.0 t-birds, mustangs,,,etc etc, it has a 12 and 6 oclock mount, 3 wires, just tie them together to the battery or a switch and it works. They dont run the battery down like the delcos can if there is no diode on the one wire. I ve also used an alternator off a 1981 dodge colt with the 1.8-1.9L engines that work,, but needs a regulator,,,,, its a mitsubishi alt too,,, last time I priced one of those,, was in the 50-75$ range,,,,, chad
