After about 4 hours of running today building fence my diesel acted like it was running out of fuel and died It would start and come up to 1500 rpm and then die again. This is my first diesel so I have no clues about what to look for .Any ideas would be greatly appreciated! Thanks in advance

Brian, test is to disconnect the fuel line from the fuel tank at the inlet to the fuel filters. If the fuel does not flow at the full of the supply line then there is a problem at the outlet of the fuel tank. Blowing compressed air in the supply line will fix the problem for a short time but only solution is to drain tank and take the outlets out of the bottom.

My brother found the remains of a lady bug in his 684's fuel tank that was causing his grief.

Good luck

I have a 784. Found out the fuel tank was rusty after I bought it. It clogged at the fitting coming out of the right tank, and at the fitting just before the filters, and of course the filters. It'll also need 10 or so gallons in the tank in order to prime it after taking the line apart or replacing the filers.

What's the ambient temp in your area? If it's real cold the fuel may be waxing. Hal

I think you will be ok at those temps. Make sure all fuel lines are tight so you're not sucking air. Hal

Replace the fuel filter, see what happens then.

Fuel taps could be blocked on the fuel tank.
