My H is still sick. Various tests and new parts now point to thye distributor is not properly grounded. You get a jolt from the dist body when it is opened up. My auto guy suggests the ground wire to the distributor may be the problem, but, at the risk of sounding stupid...where the hell is it? Buried under the points plate???. This is an IH horizontal mount distrib? Can somebody out there help me?

The distubutor is ground by its mount, but the point plate on some distubutors have a wire going from the points plate to the side of the distubutor which is the ground and if thats gone or broken it could cause that problem

Hi, I would check the wire from the points which goes trough the distributor body to the coil, make sure it is insulated well. Then I would check the wire from coil to cap, the cap, and the spark plug wires thoughly. Good Luck, Chuck
