I just sold my Allis Chalmers Model C. I'm looking for A Farmall around the same size or a little larger than the C for attachments, etc. Any thoughts appreciated. Thanks, Brett

Brett: Let me get this straight, you sold an Allis C. Roughly 15 to 20 hp, right or wromg? You are looking for a tractor little larger than C, Allis or IH?????

Larger than Allis C would be SA, SC, 100, 200, 130, 230, etc. Larger than a Farmall C would be H, 300. 330, 340, etc. This didn't look quite right, somehow.

I guess I should have been a little more specific. Sorry. I'm looking for a reactor that I can add attachments for or have attachments that are readily available, i.e, Woods belly mower, 1 or 2 bottom plow, disk, loader without being overtaxed for power. I use it for the 3-4 acres behind me. Thanks, Brett

Do you necessarily need a letter or hundred series tractor? If you look into more modern tractors like a 340, 504, 544, or a utility from the '60s or early '70s, you get all the modern features like 3pt with draft, live PTO, live hydraulics. You'll never get live PTO on a letter series. Live hydraulics and 3pt can be added, but both are expensive and will push the cost of the tractor up over what you'd spend on someting more modern. Plus, the 3pt hitch won't have draft control, and will be limited in how much it can pull without twisting the axles off the tractor.

A little larger will put you into the realm of the "H". Other choices are some of the more modern siblings to the C & H. The 200/230, 300/350 series. Those models have further updates to there C & H roots. Little more power, better hydraulics, etc. etc.

I agree, a H is alot more tractor than a Allis C,yet the H is still quite monuverable and agile. The Super C, 200, 230 is also a fine choice with about 24 horse they have the power and the traction with the big tires even more agile than the H, However they are more expensive than an H. TheH does have strong Hydrolics, while the SC, 200, 230 have a live pump buts its not as strong.
